"Men and boys bought full-length colored pictures of him to remember him by, and lost the picture they had of him in their memories by looking at the lithographs."
"Suck it photographers!" - Hemingway
You can find pictures online of the Mona Lisa. They are amazing quality, high-def and big enough to print posters. You can find them anywhere. There is no lack of Mona Lisa images floating around out there.
Yet, if you go to the Louvre to see the actual Mona Lisa, you know what you'll find?
A giant mob of people holding up their phones to take shitty pictures of the actual Mona Lisa. I don't understand that mindset.
"Hey, Frank, check out my picture of the Mona Lisa!"
"It sucks. I can Google a better picture."
"But Frank, that's the Mona Lisa!"
One time my sister said she doesn't take pictures when she goes places because she'll just remember it all. I halfway agree with her. We forget things over time and the pictures can help us remember things we have forgotten.
But would you really forget the Mona Lisa, the U2 concert, the bull fighter you idolize?
If you plan on going to the Louvre and using your phone to take a picture of the Mona Lisa, let me save you some time.
