"One of these rewards that is unique to massively multiplayer online game environments is something researchers call “ambient sociability.” It’s the experience of playing alone together, and it’s a kind of social interaction that even the most introverted among us can enjoy."
Being alone together is the balm to the soul of introverts everywhere.
I hate meeting new people. I like meeting new people but I hate meeting new people. It always over coffee or dinner or some random event where you sit still and have to look people in the eye and make small talk. That is probably the single wort way to be introduced to someone.
The better solution?
Meet people over doing something.
Once upon a time, I new someone who knew a place in Frederick. It was a super-secret location where people who had mental issues lived.
They needed their kitchen painted. So a group of people (myself included) went to paint the kitchen. There were two people there that I knew, but not very well. We got to know each other over painting. It was good.
The End.
But yes, being alone together is awesome. There are few things more fun than sitting around a room with people you like and you're all reading books and avoiding eye contact.
